Week# 5

Another amazing week in the field!!!
Etwatwa is thriving! We had a very busy week of teaching new people and especially of visiting less active families. The people here are so humble and most of the time they will let us in to share a message with them! I was expecting a lot more rejection then we have been having so far so that is great hahah!
We had zone conference on Wednesday in the Chapel right across the street from the MTC so it was a little weird being back there. I saw all the missionaries there and it hit me like...
"wow I'm a real missionary now hahah I'm one of the cool guys"
Once again this week was full of very interesting meals! More Walkie Talkies (chicken feet), amancina (cow leg) which is picture below, and some cow intestine dish hahah they were all pretty good again surprisingly. I think I was meant for South African Cuisine!
Agh I wish I was better at writing these thing but I never know what all to talk about hahaha. I'm sure my letters will get better and better as we go!
Love and miss everybody!

4. my lunch today with some chicken feet

Elder Mumford just found out today that his girlfriend Lauren Copeland will be serving her mission in Jacksonville, Florida. She will enter the Provo MTC on Sept. 25th...this was his face when we talked about it. The bad thing was his microphone wasn't working so I couldn't hear him. But his face said it all. I heard he stood up and gave all the other missionaries (8) a high five!

Week #4

POWERFUL first week in the field is all I can say.

Agh leaving all my guys in the MTC was sooo sad but I know that they're all going to do powerfull things in their areas!!

So my Companion/Trainer/Father is Elder Bah! He is from Ivory Coast in West Africa and has been out for 15 months. He is a great guys and is teaching me lots. My area is a township called Etwatwa. And all I can say is that every one of you better be grateful for what you have! A lot of these people have nothing but are so happy and willing to talk more about Jesus Christ!

I have loved meeting all of the investagators and its been so cool to be able to teach them this week. Now i feel like a real missionary hah. All of the young men in the ward and the ones that are going to be baptised are so cool and were all good friends already. I bore my testimony in church yesterday and I felt the spirit so much it was powerful!!

Im the only white person in my area and im famous! haha all the kids see me and yell "mlungu" (it means white person) haha and they like to feel my hair too haha its funny. But i guess it's a good way to get talking to people about the gospel haha.

My second day in the area I was blessed with the oppourtunity to eat some chicken feet. Lol they were actually pretty good. Sadly i left my camera at the flat so i cant send any pics of them today! But I saved all my last pictures at the MTC so you can see those. Ive heared that ill be fed some interesting food here so ill keep you updated lol. so far its been chicken feet and ox liver and both have been ok! lol.

My spiritual thought of the week is Charity. Charity is the pure love of Christ and I know that as we strive to be filled with it we will be able to bless others.
Still working on my letters so theyll get better every week! hahah

I love this gospel and I feel so blessed to be able to share it with the people of Etwatwa!
love you all!

Week #2

Elder Mumford did not get out a group email this week, but we were able to talk to him today. It was a great conversation. Caleb and I, with all the boys were able to laugh and talk about all the thing going on here and there. Jacob is HAPPY. Jacob said this week flew by. All the missionaries went to the temple this morning and Jake said it is so fun to see the city as they drive to the temple. Jacob got to meet with his mission President today as well. He said he is a cool guy. They talked about home, football, and Lauren! Jake will go into the field next Wednesday. We are excited for him, but that means we wont hear from him for 10 days. Once he is in the field his pday will be on Mondays.
